Dynamic values in project summary

Post by Bar_BQ »

Hi,

I wonder wether it is possible to dynamically change project summary information. For example, I'd like to put program version into subject field. Is it possible?

Thanks,

BarBQ,

I'm guessing you can't change it dynamically but that's only a moderate guess. I loaded a test project msi in Orca but could not find my subject in the internal msi tables. If I load the msi into a binary editor I can find my subject which makes me think it gets hard-wired into the bootstrapper when the project is built? I can't find anything in the help information and neither can I see any reference to the subject used in any of the standard dialogs. I can't find any variable in the msiCode either so that sort of makes me think it can't be changed dynamically, only edited statically.

That's right - this is "burned in" to the MSI file, but you can probably still use compiler variables for build time customization.
