Install files progress

Post by owski »

I'm having a problem with my progress dialog's progress bar while files are installed. The progress bar jumps to 100% in the first few files and then sits at 100% while the remaining 90% of the files are copied. The files are all about the same size.

Any ideas on why that might happen?

owski,

One thing I suspect is that it might be possible the Windows events are not getting intercepted in time. I experienced a similar thing displaying a progress bar while running some script. If I called a .Net executable that explicitly invoked application events then the progress bar was much smoother and predictable. If I removed the application events then I had sudden jumps in the progress bar. I'm fairly convinced it's not an IA problem. I'd like to think the progress bar would transit more smoothly when files are installed but sometimes these things might be due to the angle of the sun and the size of the crystal and its negative energy.

Thanks for the reply. I've done some tests. I created a brand new project with the same files and it works as it's supposed to so it's definitely something I've done in the MSICode or settings.

I just can't figure out what change I could have made that would cause it. I guess I'll have to remove everything I did and add them back one at a time to see which one is the culprit.
