Web-Based Parameterized Installer Generation

Hi,

I’d like to know if any of your products can address the requirements of my client. Here’s the scenario:

1. User goes to an ASP.NET 3.5 web form
2. User provides a string in a textbox and submits the form
3. The user is then given a download of an MSI installer of a Windows Form .NET application that contains the provided string as a value in its Resources.resx or App.Config.
4. The Windows Forms app when installed should have a way to get updates like Microsoft ClickOnce.

You should be able to achieve this using InstallAware Studio Admin edition automation functonality. It installs an example web site for testing web based installer generation.

Thanks for the answer Candice. If we purchased InstallAware Studio Admin, how do we set it up to work with our ASP.NET website?

Is it as simple as just referencing DLLs or does it have to be installed on the server? Currently, our ASP.NET web hosting is shared and not dedicated. Will this be an issue?

Yes that'll be an issue you'll need console access to run your setup.
