IA9: possible bug.

Post by bokkie »

1. Create a basic setup project.
2. Select the Features node.
3. Rename the feature. Physically enter the same name.
4. Press Enter to accept.

On my machine miaa.exe races at 50% cpu and higher. It never succeeds in renaming the feature and I have to kill the process potentially losing unsaved edits elsewhere. True, you'd never want to rename a feature to the same value it has but I chanced upon this all the same and I thought you might want to know about. I rate it 0.1% on the bug-raising thermometer. :)

Michael,

I figured that would be the case! I've created several new basic projects and I get the same result everytime and that's also after a reboot.

Did you actually enter the same text on the keyboard rather than clicking the Rename button and immediately hitting return to accept the value that's currently displayed? There's no problem if I give the feature a different name and that works fine.

I'll try it at home later.

I see the same. I agree its not that critical but thougth I would let you know I could reproduce it by typing the same name. Hitting enter without changing anything does not cause the loop.

I tried with Studio Admin 9 trial running on Windows 7 RC.

Thanks Tommy. That's exactly what my test case establishes. It's certainly not critical.

Now I got it, it appears you do have to fully delete and type the exact same value, including capitalization...go figure :)
