Not finding updates

I use a DataCenterUrl variable to record the location of the update.ini on my website. This variable is set dynamically to the proper value when the application is first installed. It may be based upon a command line arg, or finding a prior install of an earlier (non-IA) version.

If it is made persistent, will the updates script use it properly when it is run? The updates script is first in the main setup MSICode.

Or would I need to put in special code to determine what the url is?

Yes, persistent variables are re-loaded before the script starts executing.
