IA 9.01 Install Mixed Language Problem
Hi,
I've just purchased IA9 Studo. To install our license key it was necessary to uninstall Studio Admin and reinstall as Studio version.
Given I was reinstalling, I figured I'd download the latest version (9.01 instead of 9.0).
Upon choosing Custom setup I get a very strange dual language scenario.
The main setup, text and descriptions are in English. However, the popup menu options are in another language (Romanian?). See attached.
It doesn't affect my ability to install the product but I want to ensure this is not going to impact any setups I produce using it.

We're unable to reproduce this locally. InstallAware will show shared installer messages as determined by the language of the host operating system. So you ought to be seeing these translated messages only on systems which are actually non-English.
We'd love to receive some more detailed reports and investigation of this issue, possibly virtual machines which reproduce the problem.

Hi,
I think I've tracked it down.
My system is set to English (South Africa) under Regional and Language options.
Changing the seting to English (United States) displays the correct messages in the installer.
Can you see if that reproduces it on your side?
If not, I'll see if I can hunt down some more information.
Kind regards
Luis

Hi Luisl,
Sorry, didn't see your original thread with the problem.
I'm also a non US English variant (English United Kingdom), so that might indeed be the cause.
Happy to test any further updates that get released to see if I still experience the problem. Just let me know.
Also another problem with the install. The installer updated from my brief trial of IA version 8. The update was smooth and successful. However, it left behind the Install Aware 8 ARP entry in the add/remove programs list. Naturally, I can clean that up easily enough but you would hope IA would get its own installation perfect from a marketing point of view if nothing else. I have seen an old thread relating to this issue for customer setups and indeed IA installation itself (upgrading IA6 to IA7). Anyhow it looks like that issue was never resolved or has regressed back in somehow. I don't think it will affect our setups as we don't put the version number in installer name. However, I'm keen to ensure that is the case.

Actually the language problem is much more serious than first thought.
It is affecting the setups I produce use IA, not only the IA installation itself. This is now a blocking issue for me preventing a release of our setups.
In my own setup, the initial InstallAware Wizard progress dialog (the very first one while setup is unpacked) is in Romanian.
The rest of my setup is in English as expected, with the exception of the popup menus in the custom setup dialog which are in Romanian (exactly as per the IA setup I reported).
The cancel setup button also displays its message box in Romanian.
Note that my setup is only written in English - it is not a multilingual setup.
Also note that my setup worked previously when produced using IA 9.00 trial. I have only experienced the problem since installing 9.01.

The reason you did not notice this with pre-9.01 builds of InstallAware is because the global shared installer strings were not pre-localized.
Thanks to everybody for helping out with tracking the issue down. R&D should be able to take it from here.

I have the same problem with the Vietnamese test as I'm running with English (Ireland).
Will the fix return the behaviour as before so that for a non localised project the default language will be used throughout as currently my install is not localised and with the latest release I get Finnish or German text from the standard dialogs (or vietnamese on my machine) depending on the users regional settings when somebody attempts to cancel the install for example although the default language under project settings is English.
This for me doesn't make so much sense as if the project isn't localised I now have a dual language setup which doesn't seem correct to me. Will this return to it's previous behaviour?
Kind Regards,
qfs

Sorry for this - it was not a new bug, but one that was exposed with the new built-in localizations, and only on English sub-languages.
The fixed 9.02 version of InstallAware is already available for download
Reinstall the trial (the password has changed so enter your email to get the latest password), then regenerate and reinstall your license (if you are a licensed user).
There's other fixes in 9.02 as well - R&D has diligently resolved all issues reported in first two weeks of launch.
