Is there Bug fix list of new InstallAware releases??

Post by ALive »

Hi!

Where I can view the list of changes between versions of 9.0, 9.01 and newly 9.02.
"What's new" section does not contain bug fix list. That info would be very useful for us.

Thanks!

9.02 fixes all bugs reported in the last two weeks!

Specifically:

o Features design view rename causes IDE hang when the same feature name is manually typed in again as part of a rename
o English sub-languages mis-identified as other languages
o Default shared installer strings not in English
o Self extractor strings not localizable
o Folder Browse button on dialogs producing short paths only
o When LONGCOMPONENTS=FALSE (default behavior), custom icons assigned to shortcuts not always preserved distinctly
o Folder permissions un-applied on 64 bit operating systems
o SQL Instances list always returns empty

Folder permissions un-applied on 64 bit operating systems
I was hoping this was the ability to set folder permissions of the $TARGETDIR$ on 64-bit OS's ... but sadly this does not seem to be true. In version 9.02, there still seems to be no way to grant "everyone" permission to the $TARGETDIR$ folder (for 64-bit OS's only) ... the "Set Read Write Permissions" seems to have no affect (it works perfectly for 32-bit OS's).

Do you have any idea if this is an issue that development will be looking at?

Thanks!

This was fixed. Make sure you fully upgraded your version, including regenerating your license file.

Michael,

Unless the bugfix is somewhere else, the version I downloaded and installed (1GB+) shows sliders.rtm.042009 in the About screen. Is that the latest version? The reason I ask is that the feature rename bug is still in the version I've just installed. I'm wondering if I did indeed reinstall the original version?

Edit: Looking at the download page it seems I did download 9.02 (Moya) and I got the email with the installation password. I regenerated my licence file as well.

I think I have the latest version ... Build sliders.rtm.050709 from the Version button ... how do I know if this is 9.02?

I did a full install (the 1-gig install), and then re-ran the license file (the same .EXE that was generated for the 9.01 build).

But it seems my simple test project that installs a single file into $TARGETDIR$ then sets read/write permissions still does not work for "Everyone" in 64-bit mode. In 32-bit mode it works fine.

Basically this statement does not seem to have any affect (is this what was fixed in 9.02):

~InstallAware Clipboard Data~
~Set Access Control~
~{47654A76-CD0D-43B9-91B5-F96C9A023C83}~
~$TARGETDIR$~
~TRUE~

~FALSE~
~$ANONIISUSER$~
~TRUE~

Yes, that is the wrong version - you have build sliders and you want build moya which starts with 9.01 and is currently serving 9.02.

I did download and install the 9.02 initially, but it seems that I must regenerate the license file for EACH patch (I missed that you pointed this out in one of your posts). When I ran my original license file from 9, it apparently "backleveled" my 9.02 install to an older version (that is a little scary).

So I re-installed 9.02, and the fix does work (!) (I am running in trial mode because I cannot seem to download the new license file from your site right now).

I would recomend adding a version # somewhere (perhaps from the Version button), that shows the version in terms like 9.0, 9.01, 9.02, 9.03 so it would be obvious to ensure you are running the correct version.

I uninstalled IA9 completely and then reinstalled it. I now have Moya installed and licenced.
