VB6 runtimes

Post by nico.lammers »

For a legacy application I need to deploy on Vista I need to deploy the comctl32.ocx library.

there is an MSI from Microsoft that (I think) would install an "extended" set of VB6 runtime components.. but I'm not sure how to go about this in InstallAware..

any tips, anyone?

Hi, nico!

You can use (Un)Install MSI Package command for your needs.
There's also a pair to this command as "Is MSI Setup Installed" with shich you can check if your Prereq is already installed or not.

Hope this helps.

I knew about (Un)Install MSI Package but I hadn't seen "Is MSI Setup Installed" yet.

I also found how to make a pre-requisite runtime thingy package, so I think I'll whip up some scripts for that and put the binary in my IA runtimes folder :-)

Not 100% happy with the custom work.. but hey, I can make an installer for it can't I? ;)

thanks for the hint!

Oh another question..

How can I make it that my msi is copied into the compiled installer?
