Short path names from BrowseForFolder after 8 to 9 upgrade

Post by gsRon »

I have just upgraded from 8 to 9 and a project that was working in 8, now when you use the BrowseForFolder buttons, the text boxes that display the path selected, show short path names.

I know you can use the ConvertPath to convert it when processing, but how do I change it when the dialog is displayed?

Ron.

Can you send some kind of minimum example project, so we can test this?

Attached is a 'Basic Project' with a dialog from our install being displayed instead of the 'Welcome' dialog.

There is one browse button on the form. If you select a path under 'Program Files', it comes back in short format.

I have tested it under WinXP and Server 2008.

Please let me know if you need any more details.

Have you been able to reproduce the error?

From my testing, 9.02 does fix the path problem if the install is compiled under a 32bit. However, if it is compiled under a 64bit OS, it is not resolved.

Can you please check?

The platform you compile on should have no bearing - the same code runs on both platforms. Are you referring to running on a 64 bit OS?

I think I have narrowed down the problem.

I have installed 9.03.

When I first install it miaa.exe has a date 4/6/9 and the long file names works.

I run our license update on it, miaa.exe date changes to 14/5/9 and long filenames don't work.

Do we require an update to our license exe?
