How to detect if program version is already installed

Hello,

Is there a way to have InstallAware Developer 9 detect and prompt the user if a package has already been installed? InstallShield does this by default, displaying an "Add/Modify/Remove" dialog.

This would make our admins' lives much easier, as they have to track and deploy packages across dozens of PC's.

Yes, this is built-in and you can check for other packages using Is MSI Setup Installed.

Hi Michael,

Thanks very much for the fast reply. I took a closer look at our template package, and noticed that we had accidentally deselected the Maintenance dialog.

Everything is working great now. Thanks for bearing with us while we finish our migration from InstallShield. The learning curve on InstallAware really is a lot better.

I'm coming from IS as well and while IA appears to be much easier, I'm not used to having everything available in the MSICode. That being said, I'm struggling with the learning curve right now.

Just print out your entire MSIcode - it spells out line by line what is going on in your setup. NOTHING happens behind the scenes in InstallAware!
