Web Media Blocks

Post by Obliterator »

Just made our first couple of deployments which make use of your runtime modules as web media blocks (.net etc). The web download feature works really well and is an absolute dream to author compared to trying to do this with your competitor's product we used previously! The web setup took no time at all to create and works reliably in every test case I tried. Much appreciated!

I did encounter one really small problem with media blocks which I think is a bug. The case of the file names output in the release folder does not match the case of the URLs it places in the media block settings. The files are all titled in lowercase whilst the URLs are in mixed case.

As it happens our webserver is unix based rather than Windows so this throws a spanner in the works. Before uploading, I end up have to rename each media block file to match that of its URL. Could you correct this at some point in the future so the output files are in mixed case to match the URL?

Also I frequently find myself editing the URL of each web media block in turn - the goal being to place all the blocks in a particular subfolder of my site. At the moment I step through doing copy/paste but I'm sure many of your users must do the same. Have you considered adding a 'remap all' feature that allows me to specify one common domain and path for all the modules at once. It would simply append the filename of each block to whatever was entered.

Once again thanks for the overall web media block implementation - its a doddle to work with!

The remap all feature exists - use the refactor paths tool in the IDE. You could even use variables for your web media block download locations, and assign them dynamically at runtime!

The casing issue is on our wish list.
