Treeview feature nodes...

Post by Bjarne »

We at SourceTech have a problem with the feature treeview that someone hopefully can shed some light on.

First of all, the nodes initial (expanded)state cannot be set which makes the treeview very large and not very "nice" to look at as all nodes are expanded by default. We would very much appreciate a change of this behavoiur.

Second the nodes cannot be set to a "readonly" or "required" state.
We have nodes with many childs where some childs should be editable and some not.
Especially the parent should be visible for overall end user clarity but the user should never be able to change it's state to uninstalled.

Wise installer has a "required" state (indicated by a yellow marker over the node if I remember it correctly) which doe's exacly this.

BTW - We're running IA 9.01, build Moya SP1

Best Regards

Set Component Choice

This command determines whether it is possible for the end-user to select or deselect a component previously defined by the Define Component command.

Set Component Visibility

This command determines whether a component previously defined by the Define Component command is visible or not in end-user setup wizard dialogs for component selection.

Michael,

I've used Set Component Choice and it successfully sets the component to read-only state.

However...this state is inherited to all of the component's children - and it doesn't make a difference if I explicitly set each and every child to Allow.
All children are still in read-only state.
