Dialog text invisible?

Post by Shmulik28 »

When editing an existing form (finish), I did this:

Place a panel on the form, change the background.
Place a label in the panel - add text: "Hello, World".
Place a checkbox in the panel, set the text: "Check me!"

The labels /text appear in the test dialog mode, but after compiling the project, the text is invisible - though the checkbox portion is visible.

I made sure the controls visibility is set to true and that they were brought to front - how can I make the text visible???

I also cloned an existing label from the form, and other than the label name, everything appears the same - and this label's text is invisible.

Hi!

Make sure that Label's text color and background color are not the same. Or try to change Transparent property to True and to False. I've encountered sometimes this issue, but i cannot reproduce it constantly.

In other words try to play with properties of your Label, like colors, fonts... Happily it's not very much of them.

Hope this helps!

The problem was due to the fact the I have multiple languges and IA doesn't seem to do a great job of round-tripping - I had to manually edit the .mtx and *.language files to add in the additional label / checkbox that I added so the languges could be resolved. Wish their was a better tool for keeping multi-lingual installers up tp date.

Yeah, quiet agree with you. I don't want to blame IA, but as a developer i would implement another engine for the translation mechanism. 30% of my bugs are because the localizations and a new translator.

I'll try to explain why:
For example I read a value from registry witch is equaled to "Yes". Later i have an IF statement witch tests for equality the certain variable with this value "Yes". So the translator did the job. And my "Yes" value translated into Russian meaning (witch is: "Да"). Of course the comparison is always FALSE (At least because theres 2 letters against 3 letters in a word). I've lost 1 hour to find this. Moreover this issue happened in the "long ago tested and working" code! I could not even think that the problem could be there... I can say that this happens periodically.

Of course I know there's a way to use VARSONLY mode for the translation. But I have tons of lines in Message Boxes inside Prereq scripts, converting each line into Localized Variable will take 1-2 days. And a plenty mistakes. I hope translator will help in translating localized variables, because translating all the messages from Prereq install will take another 2-3 days. And big headache :)

If it is possible it'll be a very good way if translator wont ever touch IF statements (For example it could be a 4th mode for LOCMODE variable). That would be cool!

Thanks for understanding...
