Localized shortcuts?

Post by Mathieu »

Hi, we have a setup that is both French and english, but our product name change depending of the language seletected at the beginning of the installation.

I noticed that my Shortcuts couldn't be localized like I tought. Is it possible to do that, without doing two different setup?

I had that $TITLE$ variable being set at start of MsiCode and using it as the shortcut name, but whatever I do, my shortcut name never change

Hi Mathieu.

You can use the Translation-Manager to translate your shortcuts.

You have to do the following:
1. Create Shortcut <Path_to_shortcut_folder>\\<Shortcut_name> to <Program_exe>
2. Select Localize from the design tab and export your localizable strings.
3. Start the Translation-Manager, browse to the language you want to translate and choose "Create (Advertised) Shortcut Commands".
4. Select Shortcut_name and translate it.
5. The last step is to import the translation strings again.

Hope this helps.

Best regards.
