Installing few other setups in the same installation setup

Post by serina »

Hi there,

I would like to know whether does InstallAware supports multiple setup installation in a single main installation setup?? Means that in da main setup, there are few other setups as well in it where user have option to select which sub-setups that they would like to install during the main installation process..Moreover, how to attach/install this sub-setups in the main setup's project?? Is there any way to do so???

Thanks in advance...

Yes, this kind of multi function installer is possible, however you would want to isolate your installs into subcomponents (media blocks) for execution based on parameters.

Fairly simple to do with the MSI Code editor :)

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your reply

I couldn't figure out on how to install the sub-components into Web Media Blocks....should I use 'Define Component' to define each of the sub-components (setup)??..... hmm...sorry to say, but I'm still not that clear bout this....Could you please give me a precise guidance or any suggestions that I could refer to...? Would really appreciate it!!

Thank you...

I would advise using one of the wizards to create a very basic setup application for you to have a look at. Please specifically look at the Web Media Blocks section in the GUI and help file. This will let you break you installer up into manageable components that people can download only if they need to install that part of the functionality.

The template MSI Code should give some good pointers too :)
