Unable to load plug-in library error.

Post by lneumann »

Hi,

I am getting the infamous "Unable to load plug-in library error." on one of our clients PC. The error occurs first thing after you start the install (after you click Next button on the target folder selection dialogue).

What is even more weird is that the log file is empty.

This is a first PC which has this problem, the setup was successfully installed on 100+ other PCs.

Can you suggest any things I should check? Should not there be an error in the log file if it was my code which is failing?

Thank you

Verify the Windows Installer versions, and check any pre-reqs that you might have ....

Also check Visual C++ library versions and such ...

All Windows updates installed?

What version of windows?

Hi,

I made these two changes and even though it should not make any difference (or am i wrong?) it started to work:

I changed

Code: Select all

if Variable NEEDSUPGRADE Equals FALSE
to

Code: Select all

if Variable NEEDSUPGRADE not Equals TRUE
and

Code: Select all

Set Variable PIA2003INSTALLED to
Get Installed State for {91490409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9} into Variable PIA2003INSTALLED
to

Code: Select all

Set Variable PIA2003INSTALLED to FALSE
Get Installed State for {91490409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9} into Variable PIA2003INSTALLED
Any ideas why it started to work again? I would like to avoid such problems in the future.

Afraid nothing springs to mind with those extracts ... I would need to fire up the setup project and step through to fully understand the interactions.
