Autorun and Setup combined

Post by iti »

Hi,

We are still testing InstallAware. An important feature for us is the support for an Autorun menu.

I don't want to built 2 separate setups for our software (one with a builtin autostart menu and one for the "normal" setup). My idea is to built the main setup as a "normal" setup project and then create a new setup with the autorun dialogs. Then I want to add the "normal" setup.exe to the autorun-project under "User Interface >> Creatives" and start this when you press "Install Software" in the autorun dialog. When we have a new setup.exe built I just need to replace the setup.exe in the autorun-project menu and I'm done.

Is this a valid way to achieve my aim?

Thank you in advance,

Sven

Not sure that I fully understand what you are trying to achieve, but this should be easily possible with custom MSI Code.

However, can you identify the differences between your AutoRun and Normal versions?

Thank you very much for your reply; the only difference is that we need a version that will be shipped on a cd where you find samples and documentation that are linked in an autostart dialog. The second setup version only contains the program and does not need an autostart dialog, it's for distribution via web.

Hmm ... if this autorun dialog is not part of your installation (i.e. is an Auto Run type application on your CD), then you do not need to edit your installer ?
