Repair feature in Maintenance dialog

Post by serina »

Hi there,

I would like to repair the current installed setup by reinstalling the setup with the initial original setup....I've actually inserted few scripts just after 'if Variable REMOVE Equals TRUE' in the 'Main Install'....

if Variable REPAIR Equals TRUE

Install/Remove MSI Package $PRODUCTCODE$[REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=VOMUS] (get result into variable SUCCESS)

Apply Install (get result into variable SUCCESS)

Set Variable PROGRESS to 100

Is my variable for 'get result into variable SUCCESS' is the proper/correct variable?? or is there any suitable variable which I should assign??...Because I dont see the script being executed and the files which was changed earlier is not being repaired with the original files. I would like to enquire as well, how should I determine the destination when I perform the REPAIR function so that the setup will reinstall all the files in the same folder(destination) which the setup was installed earlier....

Really hoping for a feedback soon...

Thanks a lot!

By the way, I inserted the script because the Repair function in the Maintenance dialog is not functioning as far as I've observed. For example, whenever certain files from the installed setup is been modified or removed, once I perform the Repair function, the files are not being repaired and it is still in the same exisiting condition.
Hmm...hope I made myself clear here...

Any feedback...? :?

Can you send me a log of the repair not working? I'd like to investigate that ... :)

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your initiative...By the way, my Repair function is working right now....successfully!! :D ...but, I still do have a problem regarding this issue...the Repair function of the new version of the setup is not executing correctly...
means..when the files in version1 has been corrupted or been removed, once I run again the same setup and choose to Repair it...I could perform the function successfully where the setup re-installs all the files to its original state.....
but then, when I run the new version of the setup and choose to Repair the setup, the files remained as its current state (eg.corrupted/missing files)......
Supposely, the Repair function of version2 should repair the corrupted files in version1 as far as I'm concern...

Hmm...therefore can you please post a reply regarding this issue...

Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!

Andy,

It seems to take time to attach the zip file of my project and finally terminate my post....hmmm....couldn't configure how to post to you the project...one more thing, I'm not sure how to get the logs of my project...could you tell me how to get the logs and post it to you.....

Thanks!
