Is there a way to create an Installation log?

Post by AKNG »

Hello everyone,

I would like to know if there is a way to log everything in the installer script?

These days, I have a problem with my installer. I create an installer, let call MySoftware.exe, and when I try to install it, it pop up an error at the end with the message "Error". So I would like to trace in my script to know exactly line where it crash. Is there any way to log in a file all the activities of the installer (MySotfware.exe) when I install it? For example, log all the Install Files lines in a log file to trace it.

Thank you

Use parameter for Setup.exe for MSI Logging:

/L=<path_to_log_file>

To log your script use the Plugin WriteLog (Camelot Plugin).

In the Dialog of the writelog function you have two fields:

in the first field type in the path to logfile or use a variable that you have already defined (eg: $LOGFILE$).

in the second field type in the text that should be written to the specified logfile eg. after your file operation: "file operation x done."

Clear?
