IA9 - Detect MS SQL Instances plugin won't work

Post by Bar_BQ »

After upgrading from IA 8 to 9, I noticed Detect MS SQL Instances plugin doesn't work.

Yesterday I had my winxp reinstalled and I installed IA9, build project from the sample and I see it keeps failing, instance list is empty while there should be a number instances, including local and network.

Does anybody has the same?

We did a lot of work on this plug-in to ensure it does not corrupt installers with a list index out of bounds error. Unfortunately, the vendor of the sql instance detection technology are still trying to fix problems at their end. As soon as they have, we will roll that in as well.

You should not use the old plug-in at any rate, as it caused corruption of installers at runtime.

that's bad news...

I have to release setup for our application within 2-3 weeks. Should I switch back to IA 8 and finish it or wait for fix?

I am hoping a fix should be available by your release timeframe, however.

Detect SQL Instances IA9

Post by KByington »

We just installed IA9 and have the same issue. Built an existing project that works perfectly if built using IA8 and if built under IA9 the SQL Server instance list is empty.

Any updates since this thread?

Thanks
