Schedule Task For Power User Not Working

Post by goje_sandeep »

Version : Studio 9

When trying to schedule a task for power user using "Schedule Task" ,the task does not run. Gives an error :
The attempt to retrieve account information for the specified task failed; therefore, the task did not run. Either an error occurred, or no account information existed for the task.
The specific error is:
0x8004130f: No account information could be found in the Task Scheduler security database for the task indicated.

But When I just type spaces at the end of Run As command (after double quotes ) in Task Properties and save and run the task, the task runs properly.

I am using the option "Run only when user is logged in" which does not need password.

But when I create the task using task schedulers "Add task" even then the task runs properly.

Google Chrome is able to add tasks which run properly. I have set all the properties as set by the chrome update task.

There may be a bug in the way the "Schedule Task" functions works when creating a job for poweruser.

Schedule Task For Power User Not Working

Post by rdp »

I had the same problem a few months ago.
I applied some hotfix and things worked again.
I do cleanup, backups every week, through scheduled tasks.
Last week 12/12/09 everithing worked OK.
On 12/19/09 nothing worked!
From then on, changing "almost" anything on the tasks,
would get the "access denied"
After changing the schedule and BEFORE "Apply", I used your suggestion (a space after the "run").
NO "Access denied" and the task run on schedule!
I will set up my stuff for tonight and will let you know.

I looked into SchedLgU.Txt and found the following:

"Task Scheduler Service"

"@12-StartWeeklyBackup.job" (@12-StartWeeklyBackup.bat)
Finished 12/12/2009 1:47:10 AM
Result: The task completed with an exit code of (0).

Schedule Task For Power User Not Working

Post by rdp »

It worked!!!!!!!!!!!

The trick is to make all the schedule changes and and not "Apply" until you go back to "Task".
In the "Run:" line, go to the end of the highlighted command and type a SPACE.
Now do "Apply".
That is the trick. Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!
