Use of mSQLInitEXE.dll by SQL Server Installation

Post by JerryFleck »

I'm new to IA and am having problems with a preconfigured feature when I select to include the SQL Server Express 2008 application runtime. I get the following message during the build:
"Error during build: Unable to get assembly information for C:\\Program Files (x86)\\InstallAware\\InstallAware 9\\Plug-Ins\\Detect MS SQL Instances\\mSQLInstEXE.dll"

The mentioned mSQLInitEXE.dll appears in the Assemblies view which gives the .NET Assemblies that will be installed, however, I find that the mSQLInstEXE.dll doesn't even appear to be a .NET assembly. (I tried looking at it with ILDASM.) This seems to be a critical dll used to detect existing SQL Server installations so I need to get this right. Anybody know what to do about this situation.

I tried removing it from the Assemblies and including the file as one of my application files but that didn't work.

This is an InstallAware plug-in. It's native code and I have no idea how it got to be called by an Install Assembly function, but it doesn't belong there.
