.Net reboot and resume?

Post by JeffTucker »

I have several prerequisites (like .net2 sp2) that may require a reboot. I see the code asking for:

Reboot Computer and Resume Setup

the reboot occurs, but the resume never happens. What might be going wrong here?

Jeff, did you ever find a solution for this issue? If so, what was it?

To anyone else reading this board - have you ever seen this behavior? How did you get around it? What was causing it?

I've seen a bit another issue. Reboot does not happen. The installer does all it's work, closes, but the reboot does not happen. In order to proceed you need to reboot manually, but the resume procedure occur.

I've also noticed that System Event Log has a message corresponding to USER32.DLL. Thoug manually i can reboot without any problems.
This behavior is sporadic, and I cannot reproduce it constantly.

The only thing I noticed that it happen when there's some Windows updates ready to be installed (Windows XP). We have test machines, OS installation goes through image copying, where virgin WinXP (without any additional software) is already preinstalled. That's why we always have the situation when we have some Windows updates to be installed. In order to test whole setup process (when there's no prerequisites).

Does anyone encounter such behavior?
Thanks in advance!

ALive, I believe that you are describing a different issue than what this thread is about. I saw a problem similar to yours in the past. See this thread.
