I was wondering if it were posible in installaware to be able to specify some of the build information at run time rather than design time. The reason why I am asking is for one of our project was have about 4 different versions that are being dveloped concurently. The only thing that is different is the version number and the location of the files. I am using the "Install Files" command to get all of the files and folder structure.
So in summary is there a way that I can specify at runtime.
Application Name
Application Version
and a path for the "Install Files" command.

Re: Dynamicly Set Setup Information
I have figured out how to do this using Complier Variables. The only question I have left is if that is a way to dynamicly set the Product Code. When I try to use a compiler variable when I try to install the built installset I get an error stating "This installation is forgidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator."
The reason why I am asking is that we have customers that would like to be able to install some read only copies of our application on the same server as the standard application. To accomplish this we have not only our application projects but read only porjects which is basically a copy of the build project but with a different product code. If we had the abaility to set the product code dynamicly it would remove the need for this.

Re: Dynamicly Set Setup Information
I'm afraid you really cannot set product codes dynamically at runtime - this is a build-time setting.
However a workaround could be using the Transform Instance command to spawn a new instance of your setup at build time. This does have the net effect of allowing more than one copy of a product to be installed on the same target system (it does internally change product codes, among other things). And you can script it in, along with any other custom scripting that you require for your new instances.
