Post by marcsuther »

Newbie;)
I completed my first project pretty good but there is a major problem...

The same install package will uninstall the SQL 2005 Express Instance I installed with the first pass. ?? Thanks

I don't believe that's the default behavior of the built-in runtime check scripts. Are you sure you haven't customized them to actually effect an uninstall?

Newbie Alert!
I added the SQL 2005 Express PreReq with just the checkmark. I'm running 2 scripts against the localhost\instance without issue. The problem is.. If I run the installation twice then InstallAware will automatically unistall the existing instance of 2005 Express. I'm sure there is some way to allow an existing SQL instance to remain?

I think you' missing some details in your report. That's not how the default runtimes work. They will check for the existence of the specified instance, and when found, skip the prereq phase; otherwise installing the prereq.
