Unicode translations

Post by MichaelM »

Hello,

Is support for unicode text planned in a future release of IA?

I realize that it isn't used for compatibility with earlier versions of Windows. But is anyone actually using these version anymore? At lease enough to be holding back everyone else?

Thanks,
Mike

You have nailed the issue. Do we drop support for older versions of Windows? Or do we keep it? Do we have two engines? How far down level do we support?

When "voicing" your opinions, please note that InstallAware is the only setup tool that runs all the way down level to Windows 95 Gold (released in August 95), to the very latest Server 2008 R2 64 bit - all from a single setup file; with everything scaling back/up as necessary at runtime, automatically.

Our policy at the company I work for is that we drop support for an OS when Microsoft drops it. With this philosophy you could drop

Windows 95, 98, Me and 2000

I would say at a minimum you could drop support for Windows 95, 98 and Me.

I suspect very few of your customers support these OS's.

MichaelM, i'm totally agree with you!

The least OS version that we support is WinXP. So we does not need support for Win 95 at all. But the problems that we have because of the lack of Unicode support is the worst part.

I really hope for the Unicode support in future versions.

I also agree here, We no longer officially support Windows 95, 98, ME, and EVEN 2000. Windows XP is on Microsoft's chopping block for support as well (it's already 10+ years old!) Unicode all the way!
