Hi,
I've shifted my pre-requisites msi block to just before the install takes place to allow me to install certain prerequisites based on feature selections. The problem I'm having is that after Windows Install 4.5 installs on Windows XP the computer must be restarted - when the installer starts up again it starts from the beginning of the installer - NOT from where it left off installing pre-requisites. So the user must make all their selections again. Can you explain what could be causing this problem?
Thanks,
Gary
Instal does not continue from same point after restart
Re: Instal does not continue from same point after restart
This is by design and there's no way around it short of writing your user's selections to file or registry, then reading those selections from file or registry after the reboot when the installer starts and using the settings you've read to skip the interview.
From the InstallAware Help:
From the InstallAware Help:
Reboot and Resume
This command will reboot the target system, after safely exiting the installation. It will then restart the installation from the beginning. It does not have any configurable parameters.
This command is ideal for use during pre-requisite installation.
using InstallAware 9 R2 (Build Moya.sp3.070910)

Ok, so it cannot be done using 'persistent' variables or anything like that?
Re: Instal does not continue from same point after restart
Oh yeah, you may be able to use those. I haven't made use of them, so I'm not sure what all you can do with them. I'd certainly look into it to accomplish what you want to do.
