Sql Server Name and Instance persistant variable

I am working on completing an installation package, which will be able to do silent web updates.

I am using the Sql Server Instance detection plugin.

Whereas all the other variables set to persistant maintain their state between runs, the Sql variables (as returned from the Sql Server Instance plugin) do not.

Any suggestions on how I can persist the servername and instance for updates?

Could you please post some code indicating how you're trying to use the variables and forcing their persistence?
