I am trying to add a .gif image in InstallAware dialog box. There is no option that allows to select the gif image. I could see only below types of files when i am tryin to add the images to the dialog control.
*.bmp
*.ico
*.emf
*.wmf
*.jpg
Does Installware supports loading .gif image into the image control ?
Thanks,
Narayana
Can we add .gif images in the dialogs ?
Re: Can we add .gif images in the dialogs ?
I think that technically, the image control should support .gif images. I'll see if we can't get it supported. However, it wouldn't be certain that the image would animate.
Is it important for you to have the .gif image animate?
If animations aren't important, I would advise just converting the gif to a supported type (probably jpg to minimize size).
Otherwise, I'm not sure if this will satisfy your needs as it is limited (in that you can only use one image or you can cycle through images using multiple html files like billboards, but if you want to use html billboards, you won't be able to combine them with this approach), but I was able to display a gif by doing the following:

- Under Project tab, bring up the Project Manager
- Right-click on Support Files, choose Add files to Project, then navigate to the gif image you want to display.
- Create an html file named index.htm with the following contents:
Make sure to change the ./imagename.gif to the file's proper name that you already imported.Code: Select all
<html> <body> <img src="./imagename.gif" /> </body> </html> - Import the index.htm into the Project Manager's Support Files like you did for the gif image.
- Create a custom dialog with an HTML Viewer control (found in the Browser tab of the dialog editor). In your case, you could replace the Image control with an HTML Viewer control.
- Double-click on the HTML Viewer control and set the Object Behavior, Recieves Information value to Installation Billboards.
