Issue with running the installer built on 2008 R2

Post by ramyaragupathy »

Recently I migrated from XP to 2008 R2 for building InstallAware Installers.
However while executing the installer i am get the following message.

"Product requires a 64 bit operating system. Please upgrade your operating system and try again.
Product setup cannot continue."

There are other installaware installers being built on the same machine and they are still working fine.
The only difference between the installers is,the problematic isntaller has 64 bit redistributables and the following piece of code

Code: Select all

if Variable MyOS Equals AMD64
  Set x64 - Native 64 bit Windows, AMD64 and EM64T Architectures - installation mode
end
I am using InstallAware 9.06

Any help with this?

Thanks

Are you including any 64-bit runtimes?

It sounds like you're testing the installation on a 32-bit OS? If not, please note the OS.

If you look in the checkvc_x64 script, it contains a check for whether the OS is 64-bit and the accompanied messageBox.

In your main script, you can include a check for 64-bit OS before the code Include Script: checkvc_x64.

If time permits, in the next release, these default runtime scripts will be improved to:

Indicate the runtime that is being checked for. Rather than using $TITLE$ (product), the error would state "<runtime name> requires a 64 bit operating system. Please upgrade your operating system and try again."

It will still be developers responsibility to adjust this according to their own setup requirements, but I think it will be most helpful to include the runtime names in the error prompt.
