script translation broken

Post by Bar_BQ »

Hi,

I'm experiencing a strange problem with translations. I made some significant improvements to my installation script and since that moment installer crashes. Sorry, it doesn't "crash", it just loses its translation resources and therefore I see "Welcome to $TITLE$ installer" instead of "Welcome to MyProgram installer". In next steps installer is unable to install anything or even check for available SQL server instances (as a result I see "Ms Sans Seri").

I suspect this problem is caused by some things being done "behind the scene" (I mean behind the script itself).
I already tried to copy->cut and paste the script but it didn't help.

Any idea?

Thanks,
BarBQ

Would you be able to isolate the cause? You said you made significant changes, but I don't know what changes you made.

Can you create a new blank or basic project and slowly add portions of your code to it until you reproduce the issue?

Hi Mills,

Thanks for reply. I added a quite a lot of short script portions, a new dialog and changed slightly other one, but some changes were made in original prerequisities scripts as well. Main script is about 1300 lines long and uses 7-8 prerequisities and some of my short scripts done by me, so its rather difficult to do what you advise. I downloaded Translator Pro and while loading translation resources it shows message box that some of code lines have the same guid. I opened resources and found that there is lot more lines with the same guid.
Completely don't know what to do now... :(
