Detection of MST file

Post by CFConner »

Hey guys, I hope you can help me with this one.

I have created an installation that is working great and calls other installs. One of those installations may have some transforms in which I want to apply IF THE TRANSFORM FILE EXISTS in the same directory from which the setup was executed.

For example, I have built a "all-in-one" installation package. If I copied the installation file into a folder called \clients\ and run the install - it will run as expected and display UI from the setup that I called from within the IA installation. Now, if there is an MST file in the same directory as \clients\ I will instead, for the Run Program (under direct execute), assign the variable to pass the MSI package the transforms switch along with the name of the MST file that I found.

Since I do not know what folder the user is going to run the installation package from - I was not sure if there was a predefined variable that basically points to the path of where the installation was run from. I do not want to package the MST file inside the IA installation. This is so that we can have our customers generate unique transform files for the install.

Any suggestions? I know I could use the "Does File/Folder Exist" under System Information - but what is the global variable for the current directory from which the package was executed from? Or should I be using the "Find All Files" instead?

I think I figured it out! Just had to read the manual. :)

Turns out, if anyone wants to know, that there are TWO variables to look at:

EXEDIR and GPOPATH.

Back to having fun....
