Add an MSI property to installation

Post by CFConner »

Here's the problem. I have an external MSI package in which I need to call with properties. I need to add a couple of properties to my installation so that when I create a GPO package, I can use ORCA to create a transform file against that and give it to our customers who may want to customize some of the parameters and create their own transform file to apply.

I do not see where in IA I can add such properties. Am I missing something obvious?

You should be able to set them with the Action String. See:

I did figure out a nice elegant solution. :>)

What I have done is I search for the MST file from the $GPOPATH$ and apply the MST file to the package. However, when I did my group policy deployment, it replaced my \\servername\clients\package.mst with C:\servername\clients\package.mst - really bizarro! I'm hoping the upgrade to SP3 tonight will resolve that issue.

I converted a web deployment exe to an MSI (group policy). Since I wanted to validate that web downloads would work with a Group Policy deployment.
