[Feature Request] Hide Language Selection Dialog

Postby alibaba » Thu Sep 30, 2010 3:45 am

Hi, could you change the behaviour of the built-in Language selection dialog, that it is not displayed if setup is started with a LANGUAGE Parameter. Because if I already pass this parameter I don't need the dialog anymore. I also don't want to build my own dialog. Would this be possible until InstallAware X? If I look in this forum I think a lot of customers would wish such a behaviour. And in the end it would be the same (comfortable) behaviour like InstallShield setups.

I've recorded this feature request. I hope we can change the language selection to an MSIcode command or to include a language selection dialog as part of our themes that is displayed through MSIcode, so you can edit the behavior according to your needs.

Is there any dev-progress on this?
I still have the problem that the language selection dialog pops up if I start the setup with LANGUAGE=<value> (non-silent).
I won't use /s cause the uncompress is taking very long and I will show progress during extraction.
Also I don't want to build an own Language selection dialog cause IA has already a lot of logic within its own Language selection dialog box like localized text in dialog depending on system language and pre-select the correct language.

It would be perfect if now the dialog will just not show if I pass the LANGUAGE Variable to a non-silent setup. What can I do to bring this more to your attention? :)

alibaba,

I am afraid there has been no changes with this. This feature is, however, still on our todo list.

Hi Francesco,

are there any news on this 3 years ols feature request?

I still need to hide this language selction dialog box if setup is started with a LANGUAGE Parameter. Maybe you could also intorduce an additional parameter to suppress the dialog if the first approach isn't possible.

I don't want to build my own language selction dialog, I just want the same behavior like in InstallShield setups ;)

The real problem is that I start my setup from an other application. The application starts the setup silently (special half silent implementation) to suppress the language selection dialog. But the problem in this scenario is that no unzip progress is shown, so an other approach for me could be to show unzip dialog in silent install per additional parameter.

Hope you understand me needs :)

The special half-silent implementation you can find here:

... I'll forward the request once again ... honestly, I remember that there were problems to implement it.

Let me see.
