miabuild crash

Post by sq-rom »

What is the correct list to use miabuild on a build machine?

The list stated in online help is not complete. Now we added all DLLs that miabuild told us it wants, but miabuild crashes after it has copied files:

Error during build: Access violation at address 004A8AC9 in module 'miabuild.exe
'. Read of address 00000010

I guess I am missing some files miabuild needs.

Any ideas?

BTW: we use InstallAware Studio 9

It should work with the following files from InstallPath\InstallAware 9 R2\Automation\Libraries

miacomp.exe
miaforms.dll
miainfo.dll
MSIDBWrap.dll
interop\miastub.exe
interop\mia.lib

That's exactly what I found in the IA help

But miabuild.exe obviously needs

mext.dll
miascript.dll
mmergemod.dll

too. (That's what it says, when you run it in cmd) Maybe the help documentation needs some Updates

Furthermore I could not find any miacomp.exe in my IA installation

The help is outdated and will be brought up to date. In order to set up a build machine, here's what should be done:

Run the installer for InstallAware. On the “destination” dialog, select the appropriate product edition that you have a license for and choose Custom for the features to install.

On the feature selection screen, click on the down-arrow for the InstallAware feature. Choose the option, Entire feature will be unavailable.

Click on the down-arrow for the Command Line Build feature and choose Will be installed on local hard drive.

Click on the down-arrow for the Plug-Ins feature and choose Entire feature will be installed on local hard drive.
Note: You may selectively choose the plug-ins and runtimes (a sub-set of plug-ins) suitable to your project, excluding those you don’t need, to reduce the installation size.
