Install Issue Windows XP SP3

Post by Johnr »

We have an issue at one of our customers, when installing, it does the download of the Webmedia, and once it is done with that it gives an error that the download was not completed successful an dtrie sto download the media again, though you can see it showing all the files as it downloads. Now this only happens at 1 of our clients that I am aware of. We do install on many XP machines without any problems.

Now after investigation, I asked them to zip the temporary folder which gets created during the Webmedia download, so that I can compare it with a successful install, and interesting enough there was an error during the Zip process, using Windows build in compression on one of the files complaining about an Illegal character, which he then edited and renamed. The file was "Relatorios_Português.zip", and interesting enough, all folders after this was empty compared to the successful install. So this appears to be the problem.

My question is, is there an issue with having these characters in a file name, and if, what is the fix other than renaming it. As I mentioned there probably is a fix, for it worked on another XP machine, just not at this companies computers. So something is different on their system, I just don't know why?

Would like to get to the bottom of it.

I haven't been able to reproduce a problem using the media block/zip name you used.

I wonder if the customer of yours has a proxy setting or something that could block the character on their end?
