Installaware 9 setup files

Postby nedkelly » Fri Dec 10, 2010 8:22 am

Hi,

Does anyone have the complete installaware 9 setup files? We kept backups of our installation file and activation code, but just recently discovered that the particular installation file that we have is apparently not what we were supposed to keep backed up. Despite exactly following the directions we were given by the sales team etc when we purchased this product, we're now told that we're completely high and dry and SoL. The file we have tries to download additional components from the web, which appears to have been disabled.

If anyone else out there kept a backup of the installaware 9 setup files and would be willing to send them to me (I can give you somewhere to upload) could you please send me a message? I'm a fully paid up, legitimate registered user.

To me it seems completely and ridiculously absurd that this is the sort of thing I have to resort to, but as best I can tell 'customer service' isn't a very high priority for this company. I should have realized this was the case prior to purchasing, when they make it so explicitly clear that "your purchase comes with NO SUPPORT RIGHTS whatsoever".

I realize this would be a hassle for someone, but would greatly appreciate it. Otherwise we're just being held to ransom by these guys to buy the latest version.

Thanks,

Hi,

After several customer request, we will be uploading IA9 ISO soon. It should be up by tomorrow morning GMT+2 time.

Please do take into account that in the future, please do a full backup of your install and do not only do a partial web install (minimal) since we do request that from your welcome email.

Also, please, there's no need to involve any personal issues here on the public. If you do have anything, please do not hesitate to contact me, at royi.sher [at] installaware.com, and I will be glad to assist you with anything. InstallAware's #1 priority is customer service and support.

Thank you,

We have just run into this same issue, only we need IA9 R2. Is there a full install of IA9 R2 that we can download?

We have been using the IA9 R2 web-based installer here, and we archived the runtime packages locally so we wouldn't run into this. However, today we ran into a problem where the installer says those packages are corrupt and wants to pull them from the web, but the problem is that they are no longer hosted on InstallAware's servers. To avoid running into this again, we would like to download the IA9 R2 Single File installer and keep that locally. Is this available for download anywhere?

If you need it sooner than it might be posted for download I'll be happy to send you my R2 copy. I'd need to do it via ftp for obvious reasons.

Thanks, Peter. I really appreciate the offer. I can't get access to an FTP server that I can allow you to push to, unfortunately. Do you have an FTP server that we could pull it from? If so, please PM me the credentials. Thanks again!

Unfortunately, I don't have access to any FTP site either. I will email one of the developers at the company I just left and see if we could use their guest account but I probably won't hear until tomorrow sometime. I don't know if there are size limits on the file that could be posted to it. My R2 setup file is about 1.5GB so it's a big puppy to upload. The other thing I seem to recall is that IA no longer support PMs? If we can do the upload we might need to slingshot the details through IA's support team in order not to expose our details to snoop-dogs or bots. First thing though is I'll ask about the FTP access and maybe someone from IA can chime-in with a link to R2?

Peter, would you be able to put it up on RapidShare? Since there's nothing customer-specific about the file, it could just go on a public server, right? You should be able to upload the file to there without needing to create an account. Thanks again!

Edit: It was pointed out to me that RapidShare has a 0.5GB file size limit. Perhaps this one will work.

I registered with RapidShare and got the 500MB limit (I should've read your post thoroughly first)!

It looks like I could add the file to the other link you provided but it seems to need an email address to be entered so that notification can be sent once it's uploaded. I've not registered with the site as it wants me to select a pay-for-use plan. I tried clicking the send button regardless and it also popped up a message telling me the file size is too large to send.

This one seems to work for large files, and is free, and requires no email address. I created a 2gb file using fsutil and am uploading it now...

I've started the upload. When it's finished, how do you know where to find? I can't see anything that lets me tag some kind of id to it unless that happens at the end of the download? I'll see what happens after it finishes.

Thanks, Peter. It looks like it will give you a link to the file once it's done. You can post that link here.

Righty-oh. I'll watch out for it but at a transfer rate not much better than 53KB/sec it's going to take a long, long time to complete. I'll pick it up in the morning. As soon as I get something from it I'll post it here so you can find it. Hopefully the good people at IA won't cut me to shreds for doing it. :)

EDIT: I've tried three times so far but the upload fails after a while. I'll try again.

Result! I think...

Go to the 2shared website and click on the search button and enter InstallAware 9 R2.exe and click the Search button. It should display the file that you can download. When I uploaded it it told me it was completed but it did not give me any upload information like it did when I copied a small text file to test it.

Hopefully you can download the file and it'll be usable for installation. Obviously you'll have to run your licence key afterwards. I don't know if their website purges files so perhaps you should move quickly.

Thanks so much, Peter. We've downloaded and installed it successfully. In the future we'll be sure to always download the full installer since the web installer just doesn't seem to cut it.
