Cannot uninstall IA9

Want to install IA10, but need to uninstall IA9 first.

When running the IA10 installer, the message displayed during Previous Version Uninstall:

An installation package for the product InstallAware 9 cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'myahe.msi'.

When attempting to uninstall via Add/Remove Programs:

How can I manually uninstall it so that I can install IA10?

Did you try running the IA10 installer after removing IA9? Did you try restarting your computer?

The whole problem is that IA9 will not uninstall.

Yes, but it will not uninstall from there either.

Aaron, I've had similar experiences in the past but not with IA. Have you tried reinstalling/repairing the IA9 installation? The way I approached my previous setup problems before was to (a) see if reinstalling succeeds in formally reregistering the package in the registry and uninstallation list or (b) purging the registry of traces to the package and deleting the folders and files. Neither is ideal of course but I do wonder if something has not got spooked on your system?

I made the mistake of doing a web install from installaware.com. As far as I can tell, IA9 is not accessible anymore.

I was hoping IA support would come through with an answer.

I'm not sure what I didn't explain in my original and subsequent posts.

• I want to install IA10.
• I have IA9 installed.
• Cannot install IA10 without first uninstalling IA9.
• The IA10 installer is not able to uninstall IA9.
• The Add/Remove Programs control is not able to uninstall IA9.
• I originally did a web install from installaware.com, so do not knowingly have access to an IA9 installer to re-install IA9 and possibly clean things up.

This is on XP SP3. I did not explicitly state that, but it is highly implied by "Add/Remove Programs control."

IA9 is version 9.04.9006.2009, according to the Add/Remove Programs control.

Dear Aaron,

I recently had a similar problem on XP SP3 with a different program. What happens is that traces of the installation are left on your computer, which causes problem. I used Revo Uninstaller (their free version) to uninstall the problematic problem and it worked great - please give it a try:
