SQL Native Client 10. ODBC - Exclude LastUser setting please

Post by NormanDerrick »

Hi,
This is a request for change.
When you select an existing ODBC definition on your development machine, the InstallAware dialog automatically includes the property setting for LastUser.

With the Client for SQL Server version 2000 this was OK.

It appears that at least for the SQL Client 10.0 driver and the WIndows Installer 5.0, Microsoft has considered including the LastUser property as a security weakness. Running an install script failes with in invalid property pair error message when that string is included.

Please exclude the LastUser= setting for ODBC entries when the driver is SQL Server Native Client 10.0.
This may also be true for SQL Server Native Client 9.0 also. I have not tested it since I have jumped past SQL Server 2005.

Thanks,
Norm Derrick

Dear Norman,

Please note that InstallAware simply reads the existing settings from your local machine when including property settings.
