Include Scripts

Post by penfold »

Hi,

I would like to break my install scripts into managable chunks and relate each included script with reference to the features. Can you use VARIABLES from the main script in the incude scripts? The reason I ask is when you use the if flow the drop down box does not have any varaibles available. How can you pass the main variables to include scripts?

Thanks

Dear Steve,

You can definitely do that. Any variable that is defined before the Include Script command would be visible and usable in the included script.

Ok, have continued to check this out, the issue is when you use the if statement dialog. The only way I could find for it to work is to enter the variable name into the drop down box manually. if you use the "if" statment in the script inside the included script, the drop down showing the variables is always blank, unless you have previously used a variable in the include script. I think from your reply that this is a bug.

Dear Steve,

Thanks for your reply. The drop-down shows variables that were defined within that script; therefore, variables that were defined elsewhere (and there could by many of them) are not shown in the drop-down.
