I have an installation package built in IA8 that needs to be uninstalled from another installer built in WiX. However, this is not working too well for me. Windows installer has a stage in the standard installation procedure called RemoveExistingProducts which attempts to uninstall but it doesn't work. Neither does running "msiexec /x <productcode>". If I check the logs it says it finishes properly but the uninstall doesn't actually take place.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
Uninstalling from WiX installer
Re: Uninstalling from WiX installer
Dear Erik,
Perhaps try running setup.exe /uninstall instead of msiexec?

Re: Uninstalling from WiX installer
Hello giaviv, thanks for your suggestion but that's not possible from the WiX script. That stuff is handled by windows installer and there is no way to customize the call. I'm just assuming it works the same way as when running msiexec /x but I guess that's not relevant.giaviv wrote:Dear Erik,

Dear Erik,
I am not too sure why it is not working. Are you able to uninstall manually?

Re: Uninstalling from WiX installer
I am able to uninstall through the following methods:giaviv wrote:Dear Erik,

-Choose uninstall from add/remove programs in the control panel
-Run my setup.exe with the REMOVE=TRUE and MODIFY=FALSE flags
-Run msiexec /i {PRODUCTCODE} REMOVE=TRUE MODIFY=FALSE
I am not able to uninstall through the following methods:
-Run msiexec /x {PRODUCTCODE}
-Through the RemoveExistingProducts stage in windows installer
Re: Uninstalling from WiX installer
Dear Erik,
I am not familiar with RemoveExistingProducts, but calling msiexec /x {PRODUCTCODE} for an InstallAware generated installation works fine.
Furthermore, calling the UninstallString of an InstallAware setup also works for me..
