Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable

Post by rbrickett »

Good morning all!

This may be a silly question, however I tried to research it on my own and I am unsure of my footing on the topic. I have been very happy with IA so far in managing a composite installer for several products that my company installs on end user machines. However I am trying to add in some software provided by one of our vendors (with their permission) and one of the pre-reqs is the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable installer. I know there are several run times built into IA for Visual C++, but are any of them useful in this situation?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Dear rbrickett,

I am not sure whether that refers to VC 8.0, but anyway you can easily create your own IA runtime using this tutorial:

Good luck!

Dear Ryan,

I was informed that InstallAware already ships with your requested runtime - no need to build a new one!
Its called Visual C++ Secure Runtime 9.0, and you can include it in your installed by selecting in from the pre-requisite list.
