Windows Logo Software Kit - VersionMinor, VersionMajor fail

Post by JakubKrol »

Hi,

We`ve made an application and we use InstallAware Express CodeGear Special Edition for Delphi 2009 to make an installer. I want to pass Windows Logo tests by Windows Logo Software Kit. However, I cannot pass because VersionMinor, VersionMajor (also MinorVersion and MajorVersion) cannot be found or is invalid (also it does not see language). Anyway, I checked registry and those value exists.

This is from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\A36F680084C69724AA012893E6711050\InstallProperties:

And those are information from main application`s meta-info (meaby it is something wrong with it):
Image
(in Enligsh this is: Description, Type (application), File version, Product name, Product version, Copyrights, Size, Modification date, Language (Polish), Legal copyrights)

And also I will include screen from installator made in Install Aware:

What is wrong? How can it be fixed?

Time is important for me, thanks in advance, Jakub Król, The First Path Technologies.

Dear Jakub,

How exactly are you testing to see if your setup is compatible with the Windows Logo requirements?

Regardless, you should be able to pass the verification.

Hi and thanks for your fast response.

Well, I`m doing normal test in Windows 7 Client Software Logo Toolkit.

The result begins with:

Code: Select all

Windows 7 Software Logo Toolkit Test Results

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Application Name: BeKIC
Application Version: Not Available
Application Publisher: The First Path Technologies

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: Incomplete - This is an interim report; please continue with the Toolkit wizard to finalize the report.

As you can see, it cannot find version info... The result it that:

so I cannot pass it...

Btw I`m testing on trial version (not yet activated) of Windows 7 Ultimate.
My wslkui.exe is from 2009-10-19

I am not sure why you are getting these errors. Which type of deployment package are you giving the wslkui.exe?
Perhaps try playing around with that..

I was referring to InstallAware - how did you build your setup? Are you giving the verification tool a MSI or an EXE?

Well that would be logic according to info on your site.
But the result is still the same - it does not seem to read version info.

Am I right using Group Policy Wizard to build .MSI package?

@edit:
Im testing "Uncompressed" version now.
And while it semms to be Windows bug, I`ll try on another system after that.

@edit2:
"Uncopressed" version - failed.
Another Windows - failed.
And another Windows - failed.
Even in "uninstall" applet Windows cannot read version, only name, vendor, comments and website.

Interesting. This doesn't happen for me here.

What happens when you create a basic blank project and test it out?

The same situation... Quite strange - even "size" isnt readable for Windows.

Well, now I can see Windows isnt showing those information even for InstallAware! Meaby I have old version? I have InstallAware 7 R2 for Windows Installer CodeGear Special Edition. Based on InstallAware 7 Release 2 (Build babiali_r2.070408).
Or meaby it is about Windows language? I have Polish Windows 7.

Dear Jakub,

It could actually be either - please consider upgrading to the latest version (InstallAware 10.10) - at least to see if the problem is then fixed.

Please let me know what you find out.
