Automatically detecting the native language
Automatically detecting the native language
Doesn't InstallAware detect the language of the computer it is running on and adjust it's language settings appropriately? I have an internationalized installer that I am installing on a French version of Windows 7. It insists on displaying English, however. While we could enable the language selection dialog, that reveals another problem where the french text does not fit in the space provided. Strangely enough, it doesn't fit because the installer was able to determine the correct language and replaced the English in this dialog with the correct French wording.

Dear rentzk,
You can select the language in which the IA setup will run under the Project Settings.
Why were you not able to use the language selection dialog?

Re: Automatically detecting the native language
The selection under project settings appears to be a global setting. What I want it for the installer to detect the native language on the computer and use that language in the installer. At least some components of the installer can detect the computer's language settings, since the language selection dialog switches.
The language selection dialog is not very usable since the text asking to select the language does not fit in the space provided with languages such as French. I believe this is a known issue and some of the other posts regarding this contain actual screenshots of the problem.

Re: Automatically detecting the native language
Dear rentzk,
What you can do is use the Get System Settings command for the language text setting and change the installer language accordingly at runtime by setting the LANGUAGE pre-defined variable.

Re: Automatically detecting the native language
That's what I was planning on doing today. Has anyone already written a script to do this? With the large number of languages you support combined with my poor typing abilities means testing will be a real pain.
