Regarding update process

Post by prasanth.nair »

Hi,
I have a question regarding the folder that is created in programdata folder after update process. I am checking for updates while program start up and if there is an update then it will download the update and then install. My short cut is is pointing to the exe that is in the first folder($UNINSTALLLINK$ with /update).
While update the update process creates one more folder under program data. . I think my short cut should point to the exe ($UNINSTALLLINK$ with /update) that is in the new folder created instead of the first one. Please advise.

Thanks

Dear Prasanth,

What you can do is simply delete your shortcut and create a new one in your update script.

Dear Aviv,

I am trying to get $STARTUPDIR$, $SHORTCUTFOLDER$ and $UNINSTALLLINK$ in my updates script but no luck. Is this variables not available in updates script ? Is there a way to get these in my updates script ?

Thanks

If you look at your main setup script, you will see the places where IA defines those variables (setup globals regions).
What I would do is write these values to the registry / file and then read them from the update script.
