Cannot create shell notification icon - MessageBalloon?

Post by moldev »

On one computer, we've received an error saying "Runtime error in setup script. Source File <myfile> Line number: 441 Cannot create shell notification icon".
This has only occurred on a couple computers, and is hard to reproduce, but is frustrating for our users.
Is there anything in my InstallAware script that could cause this error? We are using a MessageBalloon at one point, but I'm not sure if that's the root cause, or if I should be looking somewhere else.

Thanks

Dear moldeb,

It is probably related to your use of the Message Balloon command. Try removing the command and testing it again on the problematic machines.

Hi,
I have not been able to reproduce this without a MessageBalloon in the script, but it is hard to say conclusively since it is very hard to reproduce even with a MessageBalloon in the script.
Are you aware of any reasons that the MessageBalloon could cause this issue? Are there any ways we could modify our use of a MessageBalloon which would cause this issue to occur less frequently?
Thanks

Dear moldev,

I apologize, but I am not aware of potential problems.
