.net Framework 4 x64 fails to install on windows 7 x64

Post by Alex1971 »

Hello,

I'm trying to install the .net framework 4 on an x64 windows 7.
It fails with an error message saying the installation of the framework failed.
When I try to install manually, using the folder "netbin_x64" from the runtimes folder of Installaware, it also fails, with a blocking error.
See attached file (in german lang).
When I use the full framework 4 install from the MicroSoft Download site, it works.

Are the runtimes provided by Installaware deprecated or what could be the problem?

Best regards,
Alexander

Dear Alexander,

I am guessing that those are two different edition of .NET that you are trying to install. The .NET that comes with IA is the Client Profile version and it is definitely not deprecated...

You can always create a new runtime and wrap the .NET installation that you want to use using this tutorial:
