Convert $DATE$ to a number

Hi All,

How can you convert the var $DATE$ to a number such that you can do something like;
or will this work?

DATE_NUMBER = Ord($DATE$)
Set Random Number Generator Seed = $DATE_NUMBER$

its just to generate a random number, nothing secret

Dear Steve,

The best way to do this would be to write a simple dll (or better yet, a plugin) that generates a random number within a given range and use Call DLL function. Otherwise it will not be straight forward to implement random number generation with InstallAware. Let me know if that helps.
