Silent command line install not working

Hi,

I'm trying to get a silent install working from the command line. I've made a simple installer using InstallAware 10.10 from one of the built in templates to test it, but still can't make it work.

I'm executing:

Code: Select all

TestInstallAware.exe /s -l="C:\test\install.log"

and command prompt returns almost instantly with nothing installed. The log file shows XML like the following:

I can't find any mention in the help or on the support about log output in XML format so this seems a bit weird to me.

I've tried additional parameters to the command line for TARGETDIR, etc but it seems to make no difference. Running the .EXE interactively works fine.

Is this because I am not passing all the correct parameters? If so is there any way to get a list of the required parameters, or an error that says what is missing?

Hi,

Please try uninstalling InstallAware, regenerating your license, reinstalling InstallAware and applying your license and let me know if that changes anything.

Ok will do. I'm running version 10.10 (Build Mooya.beta.311210) - is this version the most recent 10.10? I couldn't find anywhere to download a more recent v10.

Hmmm... curiously I uninstalled then accidently installed the Studio Admin version (our license is for Studio) and tried it again in demo mode. The test project now works correctly.

I'll need to remove this and put the Studio version back in with the license to see if this now works properly. I'd still like to know if there is a later v10 that I should be using.

10.10 is the latest 10 version, however version 11 is out as well.

Ok, now when I reinstall Studio version and license it, the setup script fails in the same way as before. Is there some difference between the versions that could cause this?

I don't know if there is relevant, but the log creation is done by using /l={file} and not -l={file}. I am assuming this is not an issue for your because you seem to have been able to generate a log file, but just in case (maybe you are looking at an older log file).

It appears that the problem has been solved by downloading a new licensing exe, and reapplying it. After the project is rebuilt, the command line install is working properly.
