Variables are cleared after included script.

Post by MVEMike »

Our installer has a custom script that is included that runs a bunch of SQL commands. Once the installer gets to that script, the variables that are used as captions in our dialog windows, including $TITLE$, are cleared. All dialog windows that are displayed after the script show "$TITLE$" instead of the actual product name. Is this normal behavior?

I am using IA 11 Studio.

Hey,

It is not a normal behavior - could it be that your script is resetting those variables?

I double-checked the script. It is not clearing the variables. I even added a new label to be sure. I set the label's caption to "$TESTVAR$" and at the beginning of the code, set the variable to "Test". The dialog window displayed everything correctly, and then when it got to the script, it cleared all variables including the new TESTVAR variable. I uploaded a screenshot of the variables after they have cleared. The workflow is:

1. The progress dialog appears and runs Apply Install.

2. After the Apply Install, it runs Include Script: MyScript. The variables clear.

3. I have to set the variables back to their original values to preserve them.

4. The progress dialog closes.
